Using the Mobile Web for Relieving Puffy Eyes?

May 11th, 2009

It sounds rather hokie, doesn’t it? Well, at least when you apply it to a certain instance like a woman using advanced technology to find an eye cream for puffy eyes!? But as we’ve been discussing, there are many ways to use the mobile web and make it relevant and helpful to us all – no matter what situation we find ourselves in.

I was amazed to talk to a group of people who said it was indeed possible to use bluetooth technology to recognize the proximity of products to a buyer – eventually. However, this hasn’t been researched and implemented to the fullest extent. But we’re approaching this exact kind of technology.

Look out, one day we’ll notice our wives coming home with all kinds of products they don’t need because of this advanced technology. Leaving the store to buy a cream for puffy eyes will now turn into her buying 10 more things she never knew she always wanted.

Can anyone think of some other ways we’ll end up using the mobile web for even better and more personalized buying experinces?

Mobile Web – How My Wife Wants To Leverage It For Her Business.

April 27th, 2009

We promised that  we’d throw out topics to stimulate discussion about mobile web … where it’s going and when we’ll see it’s arrival at full potential.

Well, this weekend, my wife shared with me something that she thought would add to our discussion. As you know, she’s involved in the marketing of cosmetics to women under 35. I’ll be interested in your thoughts.

Her division operates a number of Web sites to drive awareness and shelf activity for several brands. Some of those sites … like eye skin care uses product reviews as a tool. Her vision for leveraging mobile web would be to serve up specific product reviews to women while they are in the store shopping for cosmetic products.

Her question to me (and our Mobile Monday Dublin group) was whether or not we thought that there was a way to use a blue tooth like technology to recognize proximity to products in a store and then serve up an ad for one of their products.

Thoughts?

Mobile Monday Dublin – Mobile Web

April 6th, 2009

This house believes the Mobile Web is inevitable. But what will it look like?”

We all believe (I assume) that the next evolution of the web is its becoming become mobile. In ten year’s time, I think we’ll laugh that we ever doubted it.

But what will it look like? Will mobile-operator portals straddle the ecosystem? Will the kings of today’s web seamlessly make the transition? Or will new portals, services, and leaders come through to dominate this new medium? Is it even a new medium at all?

So plenty of future-gazing stuff… and we’ll have a number of panellists from various corners of the industry present to cast their predictions and stimulate healthy discussion.
